The Zhanjiang Olympic Sports Center project covers a total area of ​​664.51 mu (approximately 44.9 hectares) and has a total building area of ​​184,700 square meters. The project consists of two parts: a stadium, three gymnasiums, and surrounding supporting roads. Construction includes a stadium (including training fields), a gymnasium, a multi-sport hall, outdoor works, and supporting facilities. The overall design of the project is themed around a "ribbon," highlighting a natural and flowing plan reminiscent of a bay. The stadium, inspired by the concept of a "seashell" and using a conch shell as its base, features a simple and pure architectural form. The gymnasium, multi-sport hall, and swimming/diving hall are interconnected, resembling three white seashells scattered freely on a beach, reflecting the unique architectural style of a bay city. Upon completion, the project will become a new landmark building in Zhanjiang City.
The stadium section is entirely connected by a giant mesh structure. There are no pillars inside, and the stands are a complete, unobstructed bowl shape, like a giant container, giving the stadium an incredible dramatic effect and unparalleled grandeur. The components of the entire stadium structure support each other, forming a mesh-like framework. Its appearance resembles a bird's nest woven from tree branches. The stadium is approximately 400 meters long and 300 meters wide. From a height of 38 meters down, the facade is covered with a semi-transparent, gray, mineral-like steel mesh membrane material, covering a total area of ​​approximately 17,000 square meters. In addition, the covered walkway uses pure white PTFE membrane material, forming a crescent shape, with both sections and sections connected, covering a total area of ​​approximately 4,000 square meters.
